LCS&Z Manager Appointed to Quality Review Oversight Committee

Latham, NY – The certified public accounting firm of LCS&Z is pleased to announce that Mary MacKrell, CPA, CGMA, has recently been appointed to the New York State Quality Review Oversight Committee (QROC).

“I am very excited to be able to serve on a committee with such an important objective,” says MacKrell. “The experience I will receive from participating with QROC will only help me strengthen my peer review proficiencies and capabilities, as well as enable me to work with my colleagues to help strengthen the peer review process in New York State.”

MacKrell has been with the firm since 2008. As a manager, she specializes in audit and attest engagements. MacKrell is also responsible for doing the firm’s A-133, government and grant audits, performing peer reviews and working on internal quality control. She is a graduate of Russell Sage College where she received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting. MacKrell is a member of the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Taylors Heroes Board of Directors, and a former member of the NYSSCPAs Peer Review Advisory Board.

The New York State QROC is the oversight body of New York State’s mandatory quality review program that went into effect January 1, 2012. The committee is responsible for overseeing the peer review process for New York state firms and making an annual recommendation as to the qualifications of sponsoring organizations. QROC is also charged with informing the State Education Department (SED) of any problems related to the quality review program, reviewing reports to ensure firms are complying with the standards and assessing the quality review program overall.
